Newland AIDC EMEA, a leading company in the AIDC industry, is pleased to announce the launch of its first fixed UHF RFID reader, the URF520 Solea. This UHF RFID reader is designed for demanding enterprise and industrial applications and for businesses of any shape or size.

The URF520 Solea is built on a high-performance Impinj E710 RFID chip with a reading distance of up to 14 meters and a read rate of up to 900 tags per second. The chip, combined with its reading range and speed, makes the Solea well-suited to high-throughput applications.

To avoid the costs and complexities of installing multiple readers, the URF520 Solea connects up to four antennas simultaneously, covering multiple reading points. The reader also supports external antennas, allowing each installation to be customized for its environment.

Industrial applications require reliable, low-noise data, so the URF520 Solea supports real-time and trigger-based read modes, along with a built-in memory. The real-time mode allows the reader to scan continuously, while the trigger-based mode scans only when prompted by an external signal, such as a sensor or an automation event. The built-in memory can store up to 1,000 recently read tags, filtering out duplicates so that only new, relevant data is passed on.

Providing a wide range of communication interfaces, including Ethernet, RS-232, RS-485, and USB-B port, the URF520 Solea ensures efficient and flexible data transmission. To reduce the need for additional hardware, the Solea also features a GPIO interface, allowing it to connect directly to sensors or machinery and automatically trigger scans in response to external events, such as an item being detected at a (self-)checkout counter or a pallet arriving at a checkpoint.

The URF520 Solea features built-in mounting holes on the back of the device, allowing it to be mounted directly to walls, poles, or brackets. This helps the installation to be quicker and more flexible across different layouts. The aluminum alloy housing is designed for durability without compromising on a clean, professional appearance.

“With the URF520 Solea, we are taking another important step in expanding Newland’s RFID portfolio,” stated Sebastian Weides, Manager Product Management. “It combines strong UHF RFID performance with flexible integration and gives our partners a powerful, cost-effective platform for a wide range of enterprise applications. I’m excited to see the projects and use cases our partners will build around it.”

The Solea is designed for a wide range of industrial and commercial applications, including distribution centers, supply chain management, production tracking, asset control, and process automation. One particular application in which the URF520 Solea can be integrated is RFID self-checkout. Instead of scanning products individually, multiple RFID-tagged items can be identified simultaneously within seconds, enabling faster checkout processes and an improved customer experience.

Combining high-performance UHF reading, multiple communication interfaces, and easy installation, the URF520 Solea demonstrates Newland AIDC EMEA’s ongoing evolution by delivering a powerful, flexible, and accessible solution for the RFID market.
