Ease the heavy lifting
The FM3281 & FM3056 Grouper logistics and truck check-in
Accurately tracking truckloads is critical for industries that handle complex logistics—such as waste management, recycling, or transporting raw materials like milk or cement. For over 150 years, Flintab, based in the Nordics, has delivered reliable solutions in weighing and data collection. Today, they continue that legacy by helping customers measure, manage, and optimize their material flows across sectors like logistics, industry, and environmental services.

Flintab’s logistical solution for truck tracking
A core part of Flintab’s modern solution is ensuring that truck drivers can easily and efficiently check in at their destinations. The process starts with the driver identifying themselves who typically using driver’s license or other documentation so that the system knows who is behind the wheel and, in some cases, what material is to be collected. Once the identification is complete, the truck is weighed, ensuring that data is tied to the correct person and assignment. The aim is a smooth and accurate workflow, reducing waiting times without compromising on traceability or performance.
The previous scanner system wasn’t up for the task outdoors. It struggled in the bright sunlight and harsh weather typical of Nordic climates and couldn’t work with various voltage inputs. A new solution was required—one that could perform reliably in tough conditions and integrate seamlessly with Flintab’s current weighing terminals.

The FM3281 Grouper and FM3056 Grouper.
After evaluating various options, Flintab selected two devices from Newland AIDC EMEA: the FM3281 Grouper and the FM3056 Grouper.
Chosen for its rugged design and flexibility, the FM3281 Grouper scanner offered:
Wide input voltage support;
IP67-rated durability for dust and water resistance;
Compact form factor, suitable for all kinds of terminals, no matter the design.
The FM3056 Grouper was chosen specifically for its scanning capabilities and form factor:
Its reading distance allows drivers to quickly check in and minimize wait times;
Excellent scanning performance from screens (e.g., smartphones and tablets);
Small form factor made it ideal for terminal setups.
On top of individual performance, the scanners also met the demands for terminal integration and could be configured to meet the application’s needs.
The newly chosen scanners resulted in an improvement. The scanners operate smoothly across multiple terminals, regardless of weather or lighting. Most importantly, drivers are able to check in quickly and easily—helping Flintab and their customers maintain accurate, efficient material tracking.
