On December 1st, 2009 Xiamen University (XMU) and Newland Group signed an agreement to build a SOC (System on Chip) laboratory together.
XMU also granted Dr. Hwa-Nien Yu and Dr. Chintay Shih the title of Emeritus Professor in recognition of their distinguished contribution.

The establishment of the XMU-Newland SOC Lab is one of great achievements of Newland Group.

The Lab will focus on IC design specialized for "SensorNet", a technology which allows tracking devices through the internet via barcode, RFID and other Auto-ID technologies.
